It's About Time

I have had a lot of people ask why I haven't updated my blog since Halloween. The only excuse I have is Pure laziness. Mason is so full of energy, I don't have anything left at the end of the day. He has grown up a ton since October.
I love warm weather. The best way keep Mason happy is to put him side. He will play out there all day long. It's wonderful!

Isn't he so cute!

Since I haven't posted for such a long time. Here is a quit update on the Dopp's lives in 2010.

I had lazer eye surgery done in January. It has been awesome! I highly recommend it.
Dash Board Confessionals gave a freeconcert on 25th street the day I had the surgery, but we went anyway. It was cold and I couldn't see anything, but the music was great.
I looked like a blind street begger.

For Valentine's Day Nate and I snow shoed to Bear Claw Yurt in the Uintahs with 4 other couples. It was blast!

Mason celebrated his first Easter. We tried to get him to hunt for Easter Eggs, but he's a little too young to understand the point. Perhaps next year.

Mason turned 1 on April 24th. We had a cereal themed birthday party for him at the park.

I made the mistake of putting sprinkles on his cake. He was much more interested in eating them then the cake.
Thanks to everyone who came and thanks for all of the great presents.
We started the camping season with a weekend trip to Moab. Mason had a blast! He loves camping because he gets to be outside all the time.
He is going to be mad us one day for this picture. He looks like a nerd!

We stopped at some ghost towns on the way down and the on the way home.
This first picture was taken at a town called Standardville and is located in a canyon by Helper.
I just thought this picture was creepy. It was taken at an old abandoned motel in a place called Thompsonville.
I had to add a picture of the motel. Doesn't it look the motel in the movie "Vacancy"? It was creepy place. That whole town is creepy and people actually still live there.
I haven't put my new pictures on the computer yet so I will try and blog again. It is my goal to keep this page updated for now on. It might not be anything exciting, but it will be updates.

Happy Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I think it is just going to get better and better. Mason was really too young to enjoy it this year, but next year will be awesome!!

We started the night off at Grandma Woolsey's House for some chili and Witch's brew punch.
Mason had fun playing with his cousin Gilbert.

Then we took Mason, Sira and Noah trick or treating. Mason got to ride in style.

Yummy, Mason loves his green beans! Mason is eating solids now. He transitioned really quickly. I think he just really likes to suck on the spoon, but if it works it works.

Spit-up Be Gone

As you can see from the picture, Mason has a spit-up problem. He pukes buckets all day long. It makes me feel so bad. We go through about 4 bibs and burp cloths a day and my carpets and clothing get drenched. It's gross. Well, no more. I was told that milk and dairy products could be the cause and if I stop consuming those types of things the spitting up would stop. Unfortunately for me it worked. I haven't had any uncooked dairy products for about 5 days now and Mason didn't spit up yesterday or today. It's awesome that he doesn't spit up so much, but I just love dairy. It's going to be hard to go a month without, but I can do it. It's only until November then Mason will be 6 months and I am going to stop nursing.

I'm only going to stop, because I want LASIK and I have to be nursing free for 90 days before I can get a consult and I have to have the procedure done before my Flex spending account goes away in March. Yes, it's selfish, but at least I made it to 6 months. That's a lot better then I thought I would do.

Founder's Day BBQ?

Hey everyone, I was thinking it would be fun to have the annual Founder's Day BBQ at the Woolsey residence. Founder's Day is June 27th. The fireworks start at 10:00 so I was thinking we could eat around 6:30 or 7:00. It will be Bring your own meet this year and then we can have everyone bring a side dish. I would like to make homemade ice-cream so maybe we could get a few people with ice-cream machines to bring stuff to make their favorite flavor. Nate and I will make mint chocolate chip.
Let me know if you are interested so that I will know how many people are coming and who is bringing what.

Welcome to the World Baby Dopp

It has taken me a while to get around to finding some free time to add some pictures of our little baby. Isn't he so cute!

We had a ruff start but I think things are slowing starting to turn around. If we could just get breastfeeding down I think everything would be wonderful. Any helpful hints on how to get a proper latch would be very welcome. I have no clue how mothers breastfeed by simply holding thier babies in their arms. I tried that yesterday and it was a disaters. I am confind to a chair with pillows for support. I hate it, but it is important to me to continue to try so I will, even though my nipples are killing me and I basically have the lactation specialist on speed dial and my copy of "What to expect in the first year" next to me at all times.

Other than the breastfeeding he is an exceptionally good baby. I usually have to wake him up to feed him. This was when he was a week old. I'm getting ready to change his diaper so that I can feed him.

Even better, he sleeps about 4 hours at night. He only wakes up once. It's awesome! I hope that never stops.
I think I would have gone crazy without Nate. He took work off for the first two weeks and let me rest. He did the dishes, the laundry and cleaned the house. It was fantastic. He even watched the baby in the mornings so I could shower.

Thanks to all my family and friends for the fun baby showers. You guys are awesome! Between baby showers gifts and hand-me-downs we didn't have to buy anything. I'm sure we will figure out what we are missing when the little guy arrives. If he ever decides to be born. But for now I think we are all set. So again, Thank you all so much for your love and support.

Our little boy is rich thanks to their bad memories. They had to put money into that piggy bank every time they called someone by their real name and not their fake shower name.

This was Mike's first baby shower. Nice of him to come in place of his wife.

Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me!
I'm 27, how crazy is that!
I had a great birthday. Actually, I had to work on my real birthday but we celebrated on Thursday and Friday. Nate is so great. He always has some big fun suprise plans to make my birthday special.

We spent Thursday night in the Presidential Suit at the Anniversary Inn in Salt Lake. It was nice room with a great view. The picture below is from our balcony. Unfortunately, it was freezing cold so we didn't spend much time out there.

We spent all day Friday visiting old historic mining/train towns down by Tooele.

If you go to the Mercur link it will tell you that ther is nothing left, and it is true. The whole area is just one big strip mine now. Pretty lame!
However, there are still a few remains left in West Dip which was a suburb of Mercur.

On Nate's map it said the town was just a mile up the road from the cemetary so we thought it would be nice to take a little walk. We took the wrong road, but it was a nice walk, except I was really slow. It's pretty tough to walk up hill when you have a big prego belly. All we saw on that road was a few blown up mines and one that was gated off. Jerks won't let us have any fun.
When we got back in the car we drove down the road a little ways and drove right to West Dip. The picture below is what is left of West Dip.

Topliff was our next destination. We actually never found it. We must have driven past it without noticing it so I guess there really wasn't anything too great left. What we found was two abandoned houses next to a railroad. We assumed it was Topliff so we stopped to explore. Lucky for us the locks on the doors had been broken off. It appeared that the houses were abandoned sometime during the 70's.

Nate has a whole list of historical places and towns he wants to visit. We would love to have some company if anyone is interested in coming along on our next adventure.

Even if you hate the winter, you have to admit that the snow makes everything look beautiful. It even makes central Ogden look pretty.

Ok, I have decided that I am not a blogger. I took me like 3 days to do the last post about our trip and I hated every second of it. I just can't get my pictures to space out properly and I

keep deleting pictures and it makes me so frustrated. I say this because I want everyone to know that my blog site will never be fashionable. But I appreciate all of you who continue to look at my posts. Thank you!

Puerto RicoMe getting ready for our formal dinner while Nate is Napping. He doesn't have to work as hard to look good. There was a cocktail party before dinner on the formal night. Probably would have been a lot more fun if we drank. This was our second formal night. I had to make my dress look different.

Last Chance Vacations

As part of our Christmas this year Nate and I decided to go on one last adventure before the baby comes. My Cousin Heather invited Nate and I to go on a Caribbean cruise with them. Heather and I discussed details and got everything all booked. Well, about a week before the trip we realized that I had booked my cruise a week before my cousins so we each took the same trip just a week apart. I blame it on pregnancy. I think my brain has stopped working so more blood can be sent to the baby. We had a great time on the cruise. I will try not to bore you all with an over abundance of pictures but I would like to share some of the highlights.

We thought this was pretty fun. Nathan's middle name is Arthur and these two stores just happened to be next to each other in the Atlanta Airport.

Departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida - December 6th

We sailed on the Carnival Splendor of the Sea. The ship was really nice and really big. The video below is of the lobby area.
Are first day, Dec. 7th, was spent at sea.

San Juan, Puerto Rico - Dec. 8th

At one time San Juan had I think 13 entrances into the city, but this is the only original entrance that still remains.

Nate and I in front of Fort San Felipe del Morro. El Morro was constructed in the 16th century to protect the town from attach by sea. I think El Morro was probably my favorite attraction on this cruise. I'm glad we made it. Our boat docked in Puerto Rico at 5:00 PM and the fort closed at 6:00 PM.

Luckily Castillo de San Cristóbal stayed open until 7:00 PM so we were able to run over to it before it closed. Castillo de San Cristóbal was built by the Spanish in 1783 to protect against land attacks.

Unfortunately, We didn't have time to see the whole fort but what we did see was really cool. Both forts were huge. I would love to go back and spend more time in Puerto Rico.

We had a taxi take us to a restaurant called the Latin Star in Condado. A lady that Nate works with told us we had to go there and try Mangu which is fried mushed plantains. I had Chicken Mangu and Nate had Turkey. It was actually pretty good.

Our boat didn't leave San Juan until Midnight so we spent the rest of the night exploring the city of San Juan. It was fun to see all of the Christmas decorations. This is the Mayors house. We were tyring to get a picture to use as a Christmas Card for next year.

Capilla del Cristo was constructed in the 16th century because a guy was racing his horse down this street and he ran off the cliff. There are two different stories behind why the chapel was constructed. One says the guy lived and the chapel was built to commemorate the miracle. The other story says the guy died and the chapel was built to block off the cliff so no one else would fall

The Catedral de San Juan was built in 1521 and is the second oldest cathedral in the western hemisphere. This was the first thing that people would see when they entered the city through the red door. Supposedly, the remains of Ponce de Leon are inside the cathedral.

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands - Dec. 9th

There was an excursion offered by the ship that would take us to this beach for some snorkeling. I think the ship exertion cost somewhere around $30.00 or something like that. Nate and I, thanks to the help of some locals, found a bus that took us to the same beach for $2.00. Look at all of those other suckers who paid a bunch of money. Ha Ha....

The snorkeling was pretty good. We saw all kinds of colorful fish and cool sea creatures. Well worth the $2.00. It did rain on and off, but it wasn't too cold.

St. Thomas was really pretty around the resort area, but the city and domestic areas looked about like the Dominican Republic. You would think the United States would take better care of it's property.

La Romana, Dominican Republic - Dec. 10th

Here we are in the D.R. Nate and I decided to go on our one adventure again instead of paying the outlandish Cruise excursion prices. It would have cost us $65.00 a person to do what we did for $20.00 a person and that included being ripped off by a very cleaver money exchanger.

AS you can see by this picture, the Dominican's do not care too much about historical land marks. Pretty sad, but it is cool that you can get into all these old places for free. That never happens in America.

We rode a bus for 2 hours from La Roman to Santo Domingo. We only had 4 hours to see all of the history that the first Colony in the New World had to offer.

The guy standing by Nate in this picture decided that he was going to be our tour guide even though we told him we didn't want one. We eventually paid him to leave us alone.

The building at the end of this street was the first University built in the new world.

(You gotta love the power lines in third world countries.)

This is the was the first hospital built in the New World.

The building directly to the right side of Nate was the home of Diego de Colon, Christopher Columbus's son. He came to Santo Domingo when the Queen forbid Christopher Columbus to leave Spain.

(Once again, I loved all of the Christmas decorations.)

This is called Panteon de La Patria. It was the first Jesuitas Church built in the New World.

This is Fortaleza de Santo Domingo . We didn't have much time to fully explore the fort, but what we saw was interesting.

We visited Santo Domingo on the day of Dia de la Patria which is similar to our Veteran's Day so there were tons of solders all over the city and they had these cool guns on display at the fort.

This is Catedral de Santo Domingo, the first Cathedral built in the New World.

There was an incredible sunset as we were sailing out of the Dominican Republic. This picture is pretty, but the real thing was like a hundred times more beautiful.

Second Day at Sea - Dec. 11th

I had a cute picture of Nate and I on our way to dinner, but I keep deleting pictures and then it my whole set up gets messed up when I add a new picture so I am not going to try to add it gain. I will put it in a new post.

The Bahamas - December 12th

When we got to the Bahamas we had two options. One was to take a taxi to this resort called Atlantis, (see the first picture) but we were sick of being raped by taxis so we decided to spend the day walking around town. I think we walked about 8 miles by the end of the day.

Of course we had to walk through the cemetery.

And take a picture of us kissing on Lovers Lane. How cute!

The Fort in the back ground is called Fort Montegue. Unfortunately it was locked so we couldn't go inside.

But, that didn't stop Nate from taking a peak.

We also went to fort Fincastle and looke around. There was a little farmers market in front of the fort and we wanted to buy some suvaniers, but street sellers in Bahams are not into bartering like the venders in Central America. We offered a guy $5.00 for this small little statue and he just scoffed at us like our money was no good. Of course it is the Bahams and I am sure that people will pay outlandish prices for things.

We were definately on the wrong side of the Island for Snorkling. We tired to snorkel at this beach and all we saw was seaweed and murky water. Oh, but Nate did find a plastic spoon.

The Bahams were definately my least favorite stop, but we still had a good time exploring the town and we saw some pretty cool things. Plus, we got some much needed exercise.

The moon looked so amazing. It was huge and bright. The camera did not do it justice at all. We later found out that the moon was as close to the earth as it gets during it's whole oribit. Sadly The Bahamas marked the end of our cruise. When we woke up in the morning we had to put on our pants and hoodies and that was in Florida.

Look at what greated us when we got of the plane in Salt Lake City.

But, It always feels good to come home, no matter the weather or how great the vacation.

Thistle, Utah

Thistle, Utah is located Southeast of Spanish Fork. On , April 14 1983, a massive Landslide moved part of the mountain and blocked two creeks, forming a dam. The citizens were evacuated as nearly 65,000 acre-feet (80,000,000 m³) of water from the creeks backed up, flooding and destroying the town. Thistle was unable to recover from this natural disaster; to this day it remains a ghost town.
The Thistle landslide has so far been the only federal disaster area declared in Utah and is considered the costliest single landslide in U.S. history. In addition to destroying the town, the landslide was devastating to the economy of southern and eastern Utah. Estimates placed the damage to Utah's economy at $200+ million U.S.

Being the great explores we are, Nate and I had to go check out the remains of Thistle. There really wasn't much left, but what we found was fun to explore.

This is the Mud slide (or Land slump is what I think they really called it) area.
Most of this house is submerged in a swamp so we couldn't go inside.

If we would have only thought to take a canoe.

I think this house was probably washed down into this gully. Up the hill farther there were a bunch of little cabins that were just rubble. We found a dishwasher and an old 1980s style computer.

This building use to be the Country Store.

Halloween Fun

I know this is like 3 months late, but I am rather proud of the snow White Costume I made for Halloween this year. (I only ended up having time to make mine so my mom had to do most of Nate’s Dwarf Costume. I think he made a great Dopey. Not too bad for my first time sowing since Junior High, right. My goal is to be able to make costumes for my children.
(The Hulk is my nephew Kalob.)

4th of July Weekend Fun Continued

Our 4th of July fun didn't stop at
Jackson Hole, on no. We left Jackson and headed straight to the Uintahs to meet up with the Woolseys and friends for some good old fourwheeling fun.

We stayed a place called Mill Creek Canyon. It was gorgous. We saw this moose the first night we got there. Unfortunately, my camera isn't so great. He was actually pretty close. On the last day a moose walked right pasted our camp.

Nate kept the kids entertained by collecting sap to melt. We then made a sap disc. Our camera died so I had to take a picture of the disc with my moms camera so I can't show you how cool it was.
It rained on our second day, but we didn't let that stop us from riding the four wheelers to Lake Lyman. It was freezing and Nate wouldn't share is rain coat.

Look at him all dry. He looks like a gunslinger.

4th of July

I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July.
I sure did.
We spent the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July with Nate's Parents in Jackson Hole.

Nate is waiting for the Parade to start. Lynnae was worried that we wouldn't get the usual spot so we were there like 2 hours early.

We spent the afternoon playing Disc Golf at the Teton's. It was a pretty fun course and we didn't lose any discs.

Jackson Hole always has the best fireworks. Check out the awesome finally below.

Nate and I have managed to make it into upper white trash society. Check out our urban success.

Sadly, Nate's uncles will not let us keep all of these beauties so I have to part with my Camery. It's a bitter sweet parting. It has taken a licking and it just keeps on ticking.

I am super excited about my Alero though. This is the newest car Nate and I have ever owned. We're moving up in life.

Save the Birds

When Nate and I got home from Church on Sunday we found this poor little baby bird on our driveway. We couldn't find the nest it had fallen out of. We searched all of the bushes and Nate even got on the roof to see if he could see anything up there. I can't imagine it feel from too high because it was still alive, but it didn't look too good. It was so sad. There wasn't anything we could do for it other than make it comfortable and put it up off the ground so a cat wouldn't get it. We haven’t check on it because we want to know if it died. We will just believe that it's mom came and got it.

The Rich LIfe

Nate and I experienced the life of the rich over Memorial Day Weekend. My boss moved to Denver so she let us stay in her very nice house in Eden for the weekend.

On Saturday we went to the Monastery to listen to the Monks chant, however, we missed them because we were enjoying the beautiful view.

Snow?

The good thing is the snow was fun this year. We got a lot of it and it came down HARD!The bad thing is we only went snowboarding once. What can I say . . . we missed out!

The Triangle

Last night I accidentally swallowed a little triangle. I don't know what it was made out of, but I started chocking on it. I sat up in bed and started trying to cough it up. I could feel it in my throat so I stuck my finger in my mouth and started digging at it. I felt a line and thought that was it so I was digging at my throat trying to pull the triangle out. Nate woke up because I was screaming and he was trying to calm me down. He thought I was dreaming, but it was so real. I could feel something in my throat and I was going to chock on it. Nate put his hand on my shoulder to try and get me to lie down and I slapped it away and said, "Don't! I swallowed a triangle!" Actually saying that I swallowed a triangle brought me out of it . I realized how silly I sounded and I must be dreaming so I just went back to sleep. My throat hurts really bad this morning though.

Disney World

March 27th - April 4th Nate and I had so much fun at Disney World and Universal Studios. I think it was the best birthday present I have ever given myself. Spent the whole 7 days at Theme parks: Disney's Magic Kingdome, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot adn Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

We missed the opening of Krusty World by a month. How lame is that!
